On the back of this photograph it reads: “Taken in 1911 in one of the towns later flooded by Gatun Lake. YMCA members in the Canal Zone.”

Which town might have this YMCA been in?
Can you tell us what may be going on this photograph?

The sign on the right of the stage appears to read “Isthmian Chapter (?) 1912 Gorgona …….Team.” That must be the team sitting on the stage, with a small group of musicians in front of them. When the town was flooded by Gatun Lake, many of the native inhabitants were moved to a new settlement, also called Gorgona, on the Pacific shore about an hours drive from Panama, which became a popular vacation spot.
