The wonderful old Cecilia Theater. Opened by businessman Manuel Espinosa, in 1917, who named it after his daughter Cecilia. It wasn´t the first cinema in the city, but for many years it was the best, and was the first to present a film with sound — “The Jazz Singer”. One night at a social event at the Union Club, around 1945 (I was 10) my dad told me that he was going to introduce to one of the most beautiful women in Panama, and took me over to meet Cecilia, and I got a hug. She was still beautiful.
