Yes, the “Old” Ancon was pulled out of retirement & made that commem transit on Aug 15, 1939. There are some great shots of this voyage!! It was not easy to come up with info on her last few years before her eventuial demise, but she was active in WWII as a cement hauler in the Pacific. I wrote a group of articles on her last years (and the Cristobal #1 too) for the ICC Journal. The last issue was in AUG 2012 & THE ANCON STORIES WERE A YEAR OR SO EARLIER SPREAD OVER SEVERAL ISSUES. ASK PAUL WHERE THE ICCJ’S ARE AS I USED TO MAIL HIM A SET WHENEVER IT WAS PUBLISHED. Our old Museo had a full set too so you have it at Gainesville. I also have lobbied to get the ICC Journal digitized. One of the reasons it needs to be digitized is this photo…. wish I had seen it then as it would’ve been used for sure. You will really enjoy her last service too when you find it. Let me know if i can be of more assistance, Again, love the picture. There is no way I can tell which of the Locks she is in at the time it was made, but a complete transit was made on that day as the banner on the ship attests. Also, on that day the USA, the CZ and Rdep all issued commemorative stamps to mark this Silver Anniversary of the “first transit” in 1914. Bob Karrer
