B-25 with B-17’s

Please help us confirm the information provided on the back of this photograph. It stated that the plane in the front is a B-25 while the ones in the rear are B-17’s.

01-44-08_0001Does anyone recognize these planes or their landing pad? We are looking for the names of the town and mountains in the distance, and an estimated time period.

Is that an airport? Could someone confirm this for us? If it is an airport, what is the name?

Have you ever been here? Please share your stories about the location with us.

If you have any information about these planes, please share with us in the comments section!

My take: a B-25 North American “Mitchell” medium bomber is the large aircraft, the main subject of the photo. Looks like one B-17 “Flying Fortress” (4-engine) heavy bomber parked at left, under B-17’s right wing, and another directly behind the B-17. Ancon Hill and Sosa Hill in background; photo taken from Albrook Field, probably during WW II, as B-17 appears to have nose paint.

Albrook with a B-25, two B-17s, several Beech C-45s and what appears to be a C-54 visible under the wing of the B-17 on the right. I would say AFTER WW2, none of the bombers have their turrets. The B-17 on the right looks to be a B-17G.

Might be France Field on the Atlantic side?!I remember as a kid at the end of WWII, squadrons returning from North Africa & the Mediterranean areas sometimes landed there to refuel before continuing on to the US. My Uncle (My mother’s brother) was a pilot of a B-25 during WWII & stopped there at the end of the War on his way home, & I still remember as a 5 or 6 year old kid going out to France Field to visit with him & I got a real thrill when he took me into his plane to show me around & I actually got to sit in the Pilot’s seat?!
