Our grandmother, Hilda Williams Butcher, attended the La Boca Normal Training School and appears in The Thinker as a member of the class of 1944. We were thrilled to find the yearbook online. Grandma, who recently celebrated her 101st birthday, has been a lifelong advocate of higher learning and professional achievement. Inspired by her life, Grandma’s offspring, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other close relatives have succeeded in the classroom and made their mark as military leaders, artists, medical and business professionals, lawyers, and, unsurprisingly, teachers. The La Boca Normal Training School, while long defunct, continues to positively impact the lives of the families of its proud graduates, like our grandmother, Hilda Williams Butcher.

I went to La Boca Normal Training School in the early 40s. I will celebrate my 99th birthday in February 20244. I remember the classroom in the photo above. I have fond memories of those years and the friendships that I made there. Many of us moved to the. USA to attend college and lived successful lives. As stated in the other comment the positive impact of the LaBoca Normal Training School. The value of the education I received has been passed down through the generations of my family.
