Carnival!

Although Panama is without the usual sights and sounds of Carnival this year because of the pandemic, these photos showcase the spectacular excitement that the events have provided for viewers and participants alike with parades, floats, queens, dancing, and costumes. Did you ever participate in a Carnival parade? Did you have a favorite float or group? What were your favorite Carnival traditions?

I remember attending at least one carnival in Panama City; it would have been sometime between 1954 and 1957. I was a young child at the time and some of the masks were frightening to me. But I can still remember the colorful sights, the loud, amazing music, and the wonderful aroma of the food cooked by street vendors! The only pictures I have of the carnival are on 8-mm movie film (no audio).
Thank you for sharing your pictures. Good memories!
